Stunning Embroidered Anatomical Illustrations by Juana Gómez

Chilean artist Juana Gómez’s latest project titled “Serie Constructal” explores the symbiotic relationship between nature and the human body. Sprouting like roots, our internal organs are an authentic reflection of nature, specifically the meaningful metaphorical shape of the tree. The iconic symbol of the tree is found deep within the silhouette of the human mind and lungs; while the flowing complexity and movement of water resembles the natural shape of our veins and nervous system. The latter is explored by Gómez’s fleshy illustrations and veiny stitch compositions.

Her aim is to find a way to artistically express the irony and connection between the human anatomy and Mother Earth. By combining the artifice, such as embroidery with an organic conceptual tool like the human body, Gomez highlights the complicated structure of architecture in nature. Her embroidery work is based on the repetition of nature and the arousing curiosity as to why these commonalities exist.

How I mark my questions.

Green - keywords, important info, etc.

Yellow - challenging questions.

Pink - practice/review before exams.

Orange - Unsolved questions. (I forgot to write that down on the paper, oops!)

Cons:

- time consuming - I have to look at the questions again after doing them to see which ones gave me headaches.

Pros:

- useful for quick reviews - I can go through all the important parts before an exam. It is time consuming in the beginning but not so much when it comes to reviewing.

- finding weak points - using the yellow and orange highlighters. I will do more practices and read more. But if I still find them difficult, I will consult my lecturers. I don’t find the questions difficult after much pratice and readings.

- Colours!!!

P.S. You all know I have an insta, righttttt?

studyraiderx asked:

Hello! How do you stay organised and how do you write your notes?

saoirse-is-studying answered:

I  have quite a simple system which is Planner + Desk + Shelf.

image

Planner

  • Calendar

I printed it out from Botanical Paperworks. I’m trying to make one to suit my own needs, but I’m still improving it. This Botanical Paperworks calendar will be used till the end of this year. By then, I should have a bigger picture of what my calendar should have.

  • To-Do Book

I usually write down things like “Rewrite tutorials” (during discussion classes, my handwriting becomes indecipherable), “Print out slides” (so that I won’t be rushing right before lectures).

Desk

  • Magazine Holder
image

- Loose leaf papers. So I don’t have to go back and forth for paper just to scribble.
- Diaries/Journals.
- Two small notebooks. I’m planning to draw/doodle there whenever I’m distracted.

  • Placemat
image

- Clock.
- Two tins with wafers. Cappuccino and strawberry flavoured. Are they study snacks? Not really, I just eat them whenever I’m hungry.
- Occasionally coffee/tea.
- To-Do Book.
- Two stones from South Korea. I’m using it as a charm. My friend went there and my other friends each wanted one stone. I asserted dominance by asking for two.
- Mechanical pencil.
- Calculator. I only have one so it could be a big trouble if I lose it (this is the only thing I bring out from my pencil box. For more information, look at “Desk Organiser”).
- Phone. I keep track of how many hours I study.

  • Clear box
image

- Post-It Sticky notes. Comes in 3 different sizes and 5 different colours.

- Sticky Flags. I have too many.

- Stabilo Fineliners. Rarely used.

I’ll talk more on this when I talk about writing my notes.

- 4 Stabilo highlighters. I have a system for it.

- Stapler refills.

- Reinforcement rings.

  • Desk organiser
image

- Pens, Ruler, Eraser, Stapler Refills, Memo Pad, Puncher, Cellophane Tape. I used them to write my notes and do my homework. I could just grab them immediately instead of opening my pencil case and lose my stuffs later.
I will talk more on this when I talk about how I write my notes.
- More Pens.
-  Sticky Flags. I used them when there are questions I don’t understand. I mark them and after I have done everything except for those questions, I will look again and try to understand. If I still can’t, then I take a pic and send them by e-mails to my lecturers.

  • Others

- Aromatherapies. Lavender and Lyang-Lyang. When I have headaches or feel very tired, I take a sniff at them. I don’t know why, but they make me feel better. They are from Daiso.

Shelf

image

I use only the first row of my shelf, since I’m still in my first semester and there aren’t much things that take up the space.

  • Binders

Four binders for Maths, Chemistry, Physics and English. English is the small, pink binder.

  • Another Magazine Holder

There are important files like receipts and official letters from school.

  • Textbooks and Library Books

And that’s how I organise. I hope I explain it well.

I will do the “How I write My Notes” later because I’m concentrating on rewriting my tutorials and doing maths exercises.

Can’t wait.
